Check Mountain Road Conditions: Before driving into the mountains, always check the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) website for road closures or weather advisories, especially during winter (October–May).
Hydration is Critical: Due to the dry, high-altitude climate, you will dehydrate faster. Carry a reusable water bottle everywhere and drink continuously throughout the day. This is the single most important tip for a comfortable visit.
Weather and Layers: The weather can change dramatically and quickly. Mornings can be cool, afternoons hot, and mountain weather unpredictable. Always dress in layers (including a light jacket, even in summer).
